Itinerary
We shall pick you up from Entebbe International Airport and take you to the hotel for Relaxation. If you arrive early, we may have an evening birding in Entebbe Botanical Gardens. Accommodation. Viavia Guest House. Albertine endemic species and overnight…Broadbill forest camp.
After an early breakfast, we shall drive to mabamba bay for the Shoebill stork basically though we have a lot of other interesting Bird species. These includes: African marsh Harrier, Papyrus Gonolek, Lesser Jacana, African Jacana, Red headed Lovebird, swamp flycatcher, Yellow billed Duck, Greater swamp warbler and other many bird species and later continue to Kibale National national park. Accommodation at : Kibale Forest camp).
Early morning after breakfast, you will visit the Kibale forest to track the Chimpanzees and 10 other primates including l’hoestes, red colobus, blue, red-tailed, and gray-cheeked mangabey. The guide will provide detailed explanations on primates, the forest fauna and flora. This primate walk is both informative and enjoyable. In the afternoon, relax at the hotel overnight at Kibale Forest camp.
After an early breakfast, we shall wake up very early and go to look for the Major Target species here the GREEN-BREASTED PITTA. This is the major target specie here though we have other special birds like the Red Chested Owlet, Brown chested Alethe, Masked apalis, Narina Trogon, and many other bird species and later come back to the lodge for Hot Lunch. Later we shall go back for the evening Birding where we shall decide to either go back to the forest and go for the Bigodi community Swamp . Accommodation,:
After breakfast, Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a world heritage site (Ruhija sector), through Queen Elizabeth National Park. In the southern Ishasha sector of the park, there's a chance to see the legendary tree-climbing lions: : overnight ..Broadbill forest camp
After an early breakfast, we shall carry our packed lunches and have a full day Birding in Mubwindi Swamp. This is the swamp within the park that gave Bwindi Impenetrable National park its name. The Major Target species here are Majorly the Grauer’s Broadbill, Grauer’s swamp warbler, Yellow-eyed black flycatcher, Handsome flacolin, Dwarf honeyguide, Archers Robin-chat, Rwenzori Batis, Rwenzori Apalis, Mountain masked Apalis, Regal Sunbird, Blue-headed and purple breasted sun bird, Lagdens and Doherty’s Bush-shrikes, Dusky Crimson wing, Dusky long tailed cuckoo, Strange weaver, Grauer’s warbler Kaan’ts waxbill and many other Albertine endemic species and overnight…Broadbill forest camp.
Gorilla Tracking Today is the big day… Prepare yourself for an encounter with one of Bwindi’s gentle giants: the rare Mountain Gorilla. For most people this is the absolute highlight of their tour in Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts both Mountain Gorillas and Chimpanzees - the only forest in Africa which can make this claim in fact. It also hosts five other species of primate, 113 species of mammal, over 200 butterflies and over 360 bird species. The Gorillas you will track belong to one of the habituated family groups that can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day. Your trek will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes and bamboo before you eventually reach the Gorillas’ habitat. En-route, your guide will point out signs of previous Gorilla activity, including dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots. The time taken to track the Gorillas can take as little as 2 hours to as much as 7 hours before one returns to the camp! Once the Gorillas have been located, your group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a Mountain Gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s very own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’. After Gorilla tracking we will transfer to Buhoma and go birding en route to Buhoma sector and Birding via the ” Neck”. Here we have many bird species that we shall be looking for such as Black bee-eater, Chapin’s flycatcher, Oriole Finch, Jameson’s Antipecker, Black Duck, Many coloured Bush-shrike, Banded Prinia, Dusky blue flycatcher, mountain wagtail, Cousins grey flycatcher and other bird species and Accomodation.. . Buhoma Community Rest Camp.
After breakfast, we shall carry our packed lunch and have a full day birding at the Waterfall Trail, Here our Target species include: Naumann’s warbler , Willards sooty boubou, Abbysinian Ground Thrush, Oberlander’s Ground Thrush, White tailed Anti-thrush, White bellied Robinchat, Equatorial Akalat, Red Throated Alethe, Red faced woodland warbler, Bar tailed Trogon, black billed Turaco, Mountain Illadopsis, Frasser’s Eagle owl, Grey winged Robinchat and many other Bird species and Accomodaton .Buhoma Community Rest Camp.
Transfer to lake mburo National park and have en route birding ,Checkin at the hotel: : After Check in, we shall do boat cruse in search for African Finfoot, Red faced Barbet, Black collard Barbet, Tabora Cisticola, Black faced waxbill, Green winged pytilia, Bare face go away Bird and overnight at Hyeina Hill. This may also be done the next morning.
Check out, after breakfast do a morning birding/nature walk at Lake Mburo National Park and later transfer to the airport for your flights with a stop-over at the Equator line, this depends on the time of departure flights.
